Seimsics

  • The IHS Kingdom Suite software is used for interpretation and analysis of seismic and geological data and one of the most advanced tools in oil and gas industry. It is for example possible to display 2D and 3D data in a geo-referenced view and to pick reflectors and faults for interpretation and calculation of horizon grids, and to correlate well and seismic data. Furthermore, it includes a broad range of more specific applications.We thank IHS for providing us 22 licenses at no cost through their Educational Grant Program. This software donation helps to advance the education at our institute. It is used for teaching students in many courses ("Marine Geophysics", "Sound Images of Sedimentary Structures in the Ocean", "Submarine Mapping", "Seismic Interpretation", "3D Seismics") and in research projects as well.  For more information, please visit the IHS Kingdom®-website.
  • Vista is used for processing the seismic data 

 

Hydroacoustics

Hydroacoustic measurements are preferentially performed using modern (broadband) high resolution multibeam echosounders for shallow and deep water surveying, parametric echosounders (INNOMAR, ATLAS PARASOUND), and split beam echosounders for calibrated water column analyses (e.g. EK 60). We use a combination of open source software under LINUX

  • MBSystem, GMT, Seismic UNIX, Octave

 

and commercial packages

  • QIMERA, QPS FLEDERMAUS, GEOCODER, FMMidwater, HDPPost, MATLAB, Voxler,  Sonar5, HYPACK, KINGDOM
